Reminder: With the rare total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024, casting parts of Ohio into temporary darkness, Westfall Local School District is proactively adjusting its academic calendar for the safety of its students and staff.
As the eclipse coincides with many schools' dismissal times, we understand the potential traffic concerns. Following guidance and consultation with local law enforcement agencies, Westfall Local Schools has decided to cancel school for students and staff on Monday, April 8, 2024, to ensure everyone's safety during this unique celestial event.
We understand this schedule change may impact families' plans for the day. However, our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Students in Mrs. Snyder's sixth-grade writing class wrote argumentative essays on whether eating insects should be considered an adequate food source. They learned they are packed with beneficial nutrients to sustain a healthy lifestyle but might not be perceived as a tasty snack.
Students taste-tested various insects, large and small, evaluated their initial thoughts on the subject, and questioned whether they changed their perspective on serving insects at the dinner table. Even Mrs. Snyder joined in, snacking on some deliciously toasted ants!

Students in Mrs. Wing's sixth-grade writing class recently wrote an argumentative essay on whether eating insects should be considered an adequate food source or if they should be left alone. Generally viewed as cringe-worthy little creatures, they are actually packed with beneficial nutrients to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Students were given the opportunity to taste-test a few "flavored" insects to evaluate their initial thoughts on the subject and question whether they changed their perspective on serving insects at the dinner table. Much to our surprise, other than being a bit on the bland side, the reviews were all very positive!

Ms. T and her Community Service class recently crafted a basket overflowing with beautiful Easter egg gifts for our Pickaway County Veterans. They did a wonderful job!

We had an amazing day with visiting author Jordan Sonnenblick today!
He was incredibly gracious with his time, telling stories of his childhood and enlightening us with life lessons he learned penning his first book. He shared lunch with students and even conducted a writing workshop! We couldn't be more proud of our students for their curiosity about his literary inspiration and creative writing style. Thank you, Mr. Sonnenblick, for spending the day with us!

We're thrilled to announce that Jordan Sonnenblick, the renowned author of After Ever After, Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie, and The Secret Sheriff of Sixth Grade, will visit Westfall on March 14 to share his books and experiences with special presentations for students in grades 5-8 and 9-12!

Congratulations to our February Students of the Month:

7th-grade: Brooke Elster & Shawn Austin
