Eight members of the Boys' Varsity Basketball team stopped by Westfall Elementary this morning to read to our students! The impact of having student-athletes in the classroom creates role models that our young Mustangs can aspire to be as they get older.

After completing a unit on financial literacy, our 5th-grade students recently attended JA Biztown of Columbus. In this simulated town, they had the opportunity to work at businesses like Huntington Bank, Donatos, or State Farm Insurance, earning a paycheck and budgeting their income. This hands-on experience helped students work together in teams, learn how to manage money through their savings and checking accounts, and see the importance of making a profit while avoiding a loss for their company.

Thanksgiving Break
Our kindergartners learned the history of the first Thanksgiving, and its purpose is to celebrate the year's harvest and give thanks. As technology has improved, the agricultural production of goods has changed to meet our society's growing and changing needs. Special guests Mark and Marcia Ruff from Ruff Farms talked about how the crops grown in local fields help those around the world in many different ways through food, oils, fuels, and fabrics. Mr. Ruff even brought his combine to the school to show the students first-hand the equipment used to harvest crops. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Ruff for sharing your time with us today!
